Frisco Fiesta!

Frisco...is back!! Not that ABC did very much to announce it. Hell, Genie's back next week--I wonder if they will mention it somewhere. Look at what CBS did for the unnamed EX-GH Star that went to another soap. Ah well.

John's probably a pod body for the vampires. He's real but they used his likeness to do their bidding. muah mahhhh hahaahaa. Kinda like Star Man. Remember that movie?

Rafe's a liar. Geesh.

Sunday Surgery: The Reluctant Resident

There are so many things to try and discuss this week that I'm almost tempted to throw up a Gone Fishin' sign and wait for awhile. My friend told me "I have no idea what the hell is going on on GH, just call me when the Nurses' Ball comes, ok"?? She didn't even want to have me explain it. 

I personally think the show is a bit of a mess right now--and yes, I'm enjoying it. However, when I think about the actual "direction and story" I want to throw my hands up. No rhyme, reason or synergy lately. With the looming actor and or cast changes coming because of the legal Prospect Park shenigans, we can only expect more jumbles. 

I was also very sick the beginning of the week so perhaps some of my confusion is flu-induced. Who knows. 

I need a Bloody Mary... extra on the  Mary. Get on your SCRUBBIES!! It's SUPER SURGERY SUNDAY!! OH BOY!

Well...
I'm going to start off with the BLOATING of the PC jail/Ferncliff. Everyone in town have or will have  pending charges. Johnny...Xtina...Todd, Lucy and Heather. Connie... Tracy's going to get hooked by the feds.  Then McBain winds up in the pokey. 
WTF. Come on!! Too much. Way too much. One or maybe two "court related" things is my max. Diane and Alexis are going to be busy!

ELQ: I like it..I liked the AJ Anxiety attack--and it was very believable. Especially after his fight with Sonny. Speaking of -- loved Connie sticking to him. I'm sorry but Sonny's "trying to seduce to get daughter's charges dropped" act was gross. Inappropriate.  This ConSon dance has gone on far too long. It's just getting tiresome. I'm liking the "crazy Cawnie" stuff in the news room and having her print The Sun is ok...but the Sonny crud? STOP IT.

Brit got her just  desserts..and yet, I felt mildly giddy when she bumped hard into Nurse Betty and threw her papers all over the floor.  I still can't get into Paddy/Betty. Now we have a Dr.Niles in the making. Whatever, Whatever..Whatever.

 

Should I even start?

Should I?

Well...I'm going to start with Kevin because that at LEAST is the good part of this whole story. I am SO GLAD  Kevin's in town. I love he and Lucy. They have magic. What has it been 10 years? They are still so "there". Alison coming back-- was a nice touch (if they are going anywhere with "Rafe") but she DIED  ON THE 2nd day she was in town!! Or First..or whatever.  Thing is... if you didn't watch PC, you had to try to figure out the entire story based on John and Livvy's...er.. I mean SAM's Wiki of the story. Lucy tried to explain it but that was painful even for me, someone that knew Port Charles. I can't imagine if you are watching GH now..getting used to McBain from OLTL only to find out he's  a ringer for some OTHER guy on ANOTHER soap. Oh, and he was a vampire.
Giggle. 

That aside, the kid Rafe was pretty good, which given the latest casting choices, made me happy.  Just get different hair cuts on people, would ya? Michael, AJ--this kid all have that same  SBurton Rooster-do.

 

SCENE OF THE WEEK: Oh be still my heart. What a beautifully written scene. I was a little choked up. Ok, a LOT of choked up. This is couple is greatness. They stepped right back into "Doc" and Lucy in a heartbeat. 

RUNNER UP:  Brit turns around and sees Patrick Right. Be--hind. HER!!! WHOOPS.

NOT THE SCENE OF THE WEEK: I just found Sonny taking advantage of Connie (a woman he's confessed to not even liking) by trying to turn her ON enough to drop the charges against Xtina stupid. Way to use a mentally unstable woman, dimples boy.

 PROP OF THE WEEK: No, it's not going to that hokey silver arrow thing-- it's going to the Chutes and Ladders game at Ferncliff!! 

UNLIKELY DUO: Call me crazy but I kinda liked this scheme. The "Scully" connection between the two was well used and brought a bit of emotion out in Tracy. I liked Tracy's plan--just throw the company to the wolves. Connie even tried to talk her out of it. I found myself enjoying their time together. Huh. Go figure.

This week we learned:
1. A silver arrow should save Rafe/Alison from the "guy who's going to kill them" unless..er, they get killed with it themselves.
2. Caleb loves to eat.  
3. Monica visits ELQ...but not the hospital
4. The Orbs of Doom survived Xtina's bat 
5. AJ has panic attacks that make his hair stick up on end
6. Ellie is still boring
7. Tracy hangs out in Kelly's
8. Ned can't write a text or an email
9. Duke wants to crunch numbers for AJ based  on his years owning a club, laundering money and being a prisoner
10. Even WITH a job, Michael still manages to do nothing. 
11. Ferncliff and the jail is pretty dang full. 
12. The ducks are mighty hungry in the cold frozen recesses of winter in PC

REMINDER: even though ABC  didn't promo it too much FRISCO is back Monday!!

Port Charles: A Primer

 Port Charles was a 30 min soap that ran from 1997-2003.  It was sandwiched in my area between the news and AMC.  The original concept was to focus on first year residents at GH.  Some characters such as Scott Baldwin, Lucy Coe and Kevin Collins and Karen Wexler  went "over" to the soap from GH. Others, like Livvy, Alison  and Caleb were introduced. (Livvy was found to be Kevin's biological daugher).  Later, Ian Buchanan joined the cast and played vampire Joshua Temple.  On Monday, December 4th, 2000, Port Charles began airing Port Charles: Fate, the first of twelve, thirteen week story arcs known as 'books'. Port Charles third book, which began June 4, 2001, added something new to its canvas...vampires. Then werewolves...and an angel.

When Kelly Monaco joined GH after PC was cancelled, her character was obviously changed to Sam McCall, grifter with an edge. Poor Kevin and Lucy didn't make it back on the main show. I was happy to see them now!!

Things I remember about Port Charles was the lighthouse where Lucy and Kevin lived,  how zexy Caleb and Livvy were and the bar "The  Recovery Room" where Mike was the "mixologist"! Serena Baldwin was on as well, daughter of Lucy and Kevin.  Rumor has it, she may be returning to GH at some point.  (Carly Schroeder)

Here's a little taste of PC: lifted from 'Souls Tied in Eternity: Caleb and Livvy" on Tripod. 
 
Caleb is a  blood-thirsty vampire who blows into town and holds everyone in his grip.  Caleb turns some residents of Port Charles into vampires but what he wants the most is to win the heart of Livvie Locke and marry her.  Caleb does manage to make Livvie fall in love with him but in the end she is the one that destroys and kills him. 

 

   Caleb then enters back into Port Charles as Stephen Clay, famous musician, but everyone knows that he is really Caleb back from the dead.  Now he has some kind of water in a blue bottle that he always drinks so he doesn't have to feed on anyone.  Caleb has come back again for Livvie because he still loves and wants her.

  

   Caleb pulled all of the goodness from Livvie's body and made Tess.  Tess took over and somehow got Livvie in her body because she didn't want Caleb to hurt Livvie.  Caleb tried everything to get Livvie out but failed.  Tess brought out the good in him and he started to fall for her.  He couldn't bite her because she was too pure and good. 

 

   In the end he admitted he made a mistake and wanted Tess and Livvie to be whole again.  All he had to do was love ALL of Livvie, the good and the bad.  When he did that then Tess went back inside of Livvie and became whole again and came back to Caleb.

 

 

A bit of the RAFE/ALISON story: From Wiki
Rafe Kovich is a vampire slayer who is related to Lucy.  He comes to Port Charles in order to help the citizens of that city destroy the vampire Caleb Morely. Years before in 1991, Caleb killed Rafe. In an angel form, Rafe has come back to destroy him. When he meets Alison, she is dating her current love interest, Jamal. During one of their first encounters Rafe uses his angel powers to heal Alison after a tree falls on her. Alison later learns he is an angel and agrees to keep it a secret. He shows her some of his magic by making a pink rose grow. He slowly begins to fall in love with her.  There's a bunch more but it would take the entire page. LOL. He ends up going back to heaven, then making a deal with a soul from hell to come back to Port Charles. Rafe has no idea who he really is however--and you know, calamity ensues. 

There you have some of what Port Charles was about. No wonder you may be confused at this point. BTW, Alison wound up PG by Caleb not Rafe.  That's the big angst with her. Well, not any more because she's dead. LOL

Michael Easton: I'm OUT Of General Hospital

This was on his FB Page... which I am really not happy about.     I knew they were working on things and I need them to work a bit harder.

I heard a rumor of some lovely people who were going to stop by the studio for a certain riff raff's birthday. Some others who wanted to deliver a cake. Even more wonderful folks who wanted to send cards and treats and I want you to know I am incredibly humbled by these gestures but unfortunately I will not be around to enjoy them. I've been informed, that due to some ongoing legal this and that, I cannot be at "General Hospital" after February 8th and since I know many of you go to great trouble to do something special, I just don't want to see anybody's efforts go to waste (especially the lovely person who always sneaks in the fine Irish Whiskey). If it's not too bold, may I suggest a donation to The American Cancer Society instead. Then some good will have come out of this...
