Sunday Surgery: Everything Including the Scrub Sink

Yes, I Googled "Scrub Sink" 

Well. This week was so HUGE it took me a whole day to digest it. Usually I can start Sunday Surgery on Saturday night but I really needed some time to ....reflect.  Things came in waves and by Friday my head was ready to explode. (but in a good way)!

So, put on your google-goggles and let's get crackin. I think I'll even have a little Bloody Mary to go with the scrubs today! 


I actually was still pretty ill on Monday and Tuesday so those days are mostly a blur. Haunted Star Valentine's party...Starr and Michael making the whoop instead of closing down the bar, Nurse Betty all guilty over the cop's death  yada yada.  Emma telling Britt she hates her still. Maxie confessing to her Daddy and I think EllieSPinelli made an appearance too. 

I really liked the fact that Luke went to Tracy to try to sort out all the crap he's dealing with. Fake Ice Princess,  Laura showing up, Scott's hair.  

That's right, Scotty showed up and and started blabbing all over that he was Laura's "Fiance" .  Kin Shriner is as delightfully smarmy now as ever! And the hair? As Luke described it "Troll like".  Seeing he, Luke and Laura all pretty on the Haunted Starr deck made me feel like a girlie again. :giggle:  Scotty even "forgave" Lulu for "killing" his son. Hmmmm. Did he really or is it all a game? We shall see!! 

THEN, there's this gal...

who had the WORST WEEK EVER!! Good LORD!! First she wakes up another PERSON...then she realizes the love of her life slept with her OTHER kinda-psycho persona AND THENNNN, she gets all creeped out, runs to Olivia's who has to tell her she married Johnny Zacchara and basically killed her own baby-drawer kid who she never got to meet. 
Whoa.  Someone better take her to a therapist quick or she's gonna need electro-shock.  

If that wasn't enough, we also had the CALEB Morley "is he or isn't he" a blood sucking Vampire saga. Molly goes and breaks McBain and Rafe out of jail. Lucy sets a fire and runs for it. Now the three of them end up in the dead professor's office to happen upon a creepy old book that has the BAT RING in it. :giggle: BAT ring. 
Anyway,  John Googles the guy, finds out he's really Stephen Clay, a rock and roller (which may explain the hairstyle choice) who THOUGHT he was a vampire, went nuts after his wife died and was sent to an asylum. 
Got that?
Ok, well...his dead wife looks just like Sam (and he looks JUST like McBain but hey who's counting) --and now he's got her in his clutches. There's also the question of Rafe, who's this guy's kid. Lucy still believes Caleb is a vampire, even though he may have tricked her into thinking he was with his BAT RING and all. 
Which is a clever way to not only weave Port Charles lore into GH but to also turn it on it's head and say: Ah, all a ruse-- and I say just sit back and let it wash over you like the Holy Soap Spirit.
Go with it.  Because this shall lead us to a great unsolved mystery we've all been wondering about: Sam's real father. Plus, I may get some McBam sex once that stupid OLTL Prospect Park deal is cleared up and Michael Easton can get his ass back to GH.

PHEW! I need a cig after all that!  If you're confused just remember this: "Caleb Morley" is really Stephen Clay who is a sociopathic psycho who believes himself to BE a vampire and Sam to be Livvy. 

SCENE OF THE WEEK:  Kate realizes Sonny slept with Connie. "the woman that destroyed my life".  Sonny's face was full of guilt and Kate's was full of disgust. 

RUNNER UP: Frisco basically tells Britt to back off or he'll "clean her up" like he does the bad guys in the WSB. Proving that he can be a bad-ass when it comes to protecting and defending his kid. Even though he hasn't seen her in years, and even though she's lying about the surrogate baby she's carrying, he's still her father, and willing to reverse blackmail and threaten to prove it. 

PROP OF THE WEEK:  Well. There. She Is. HElllloooooooooo Gorgeous!! Even though you were a fake, you were spectacular! 

Exhausting week but a good one.  I'm interested in seeing how the whole Luke/Laura/Scotty thing plays out when hindsight is 20/20. I'm super excited for the "Caleb/Livvy" stuff next week too.

OSCARS tonight! I'll be here in my Zac Posen dress all ready with a scotch. I saw only one nominated film this year and that's "Lincoln". (which I found very interesting but very exhausting as well). I do recommend "Moonrise Kingdom" as a fun quirky movie that's out on DVD now. I think it's up for best original screenplay. My son saw ALL nine noms and like Django and Amore the best. (which are polar opposites). He also liked Argo a lot. Which did you see?

A HELL OF A HUGE DAY! Whew!!

I think that TG's  back is bothering him. And I was happy to see he and Tracy together. I like them too. IT's all A JUMBLE PEOPLE!! LOL Luke, Laura....Tracy and Luke. Can't I have both??!! Tracy about dies when she hears Scotty's back. heehee.  "I've moved on..Twice with you"!! Luke says. 
"Scott Baldwin, back with that bad luck troll hair" LOL

Scott revisits Logan's death with Lulu. Logan tried to rape her, she had a knife and he ran into it and stabbed himself. He died. Scott hated her for it. Now he wants to make up. Lulu says NO way. He says "But I'm marrying your MOM"...god he can't keep that news to himself, can he?  Lulu is mad at Laura, this should be interesting. 

Anna's like OH Gawwwwwwwwwwd,  Scott Baldwin??  Anna can't believe Laura would get back together. 

McBain finds a book with the Bat ring. It has the history of the ring and families.  THEN he googles  "Stephen Clay" and finds his photo-- remember I talked about Stephen Clay in the whole explanation of Port Charles? Caleb came "back" as musician Scott Clay.  Lucy must have thought he was a vampire-- Alison was just afraid of Caleb/Stephen because he's a crazy killer. 
ERGO..Scott Clay, rock musician thought he was a vampire by the name of Caleb Morley. He married Livvy who died. Lucy was also convinced he was a vampire because of what he told her. After Livvy died, Stephen went insane and was put in the mental hospital. 
Creative KUDOS to Ron because it makes sense, ties it in a bow and used history. Liked it. Good job. 
and PERHAPS, Livvy didn't die, she's really Sam--who has amnesia?? COULD BE that's why John looked familiar??!

awwww.... poor Connie. So, Sonny tried to be with Connie but ended up with Kate. LMAO let's hope one of them didn't get pregnant. Sonny tells her she's married to Johnny, then she figures out Sonny is sleeping with CONNIE!! ahahaaa.

Scott drops the FIANCE Bombshell on Luke..Luke goes "DOH"!! I feel like it's 1978 again. We may have to revisit that whole time period. Scotty brings up the rape..Luke's like "what? do you love him"???
This just might be good folks. I mean,  I never really examined why I loved Luke and Laura so much when it was born of a rape-romance.  I  think unless you watched it live and in the '70's you could "get it". But this revisit might be cool. 

I'd write the whole Todd/McBain exchange in the jail but it's too fun NOT to watch. Todd is just hilarious.

Still Under The Cloud

Maxie and Frisco going to the Haunted Star.  That scene with them was pathetic. THAT WAS IT? WTF?

Then, Frisco manipulates her into them going to the  Haunted Star because Flea goes there.  Well. I could have lived without those scenes and more in Maxie's apartment, thank you. He kinda creeped me out at the end there-- not sure why but he did.

From Daytime Confidential:  Roger Howarth and Kristen Alderson will be going to OLTL for 4 weeks, then coming back to GH as Todd/Starr Manning. 

It gets more complicated about Michael Easton who reportedly signed a contract with Prospect Park. Michael Fairman hints he may have to stay at the online soap.

Sunday Surgery: Selective Amnesia

selective amnesia - amnesia about particular events that is very convenient for the person who cannot remember.

OR The person who DOESN'T WANT TO remember!!! Ergo, sit right back and you'll get a treat this week. I'm breaking the rules. Got your scrubbies? 

BTW: The ONLY day I'm taking about this week is the day that is the one day  I remember...and that is TUESDAY.  The heck with the rest of the week.


Tuesday is one of the reasons I still watch GH. Just great writing. Tuesday is also a "Stand Alone" show. If you watch Wed, Thurs and Friday, not much that happened on Tuesday even appears the rest of the week. 
It was detached.
Hung out by itself. 
Which, btw, GH is doing more and more, but hell...I'm not here to complain, I'm here to gush about that one perfect day!! 

Long Lost Loves: Ah, they returned in abundance on Tuesday. We FINALLY got our Felicia/Frisco talk. (yes, a week late but hey..._) How hard was this to do for Kristina and Jack? Geesh... with their history?  I would have been dying. Anyway, great dialog and acting. Wagner tweeted those scenes were difficult. 

Do you play it safe? Stay with the good guy, the guy that's been there, that loves you and you know won't jerk  you around? Or...do you turn around and face that passionate past that made your toes curl?
Then you have to know this: because time moved on would it even be the same? 

So asks  LUKE to Anna--who tries to hold on to her past with Duke  (even though his face creeps her out)   LOVED this scene. It's the SCENE OF THE WEEK. Two middle-agers,  trying to sort out the past from their reality. Can you go back? Can you ever feel the same way? Probably only on soaps.  Anna's anguish was so real.  Kudos again to FH for just bringing it. 

MOVING ON...

I also really enjoyed Mac and Lulu. Like I said in blog already, nice mix up of characters. I like it when residents actually just talk about stuff. Lulu's a good one to talk to Mac about the absent father/mother thing. She should know! Plus, I'm more and more impressed with JMB as time goes by. She really does great work on a daily basis no matter what she's given to do. 

PROP OF THE WEEK: Did you catch it? Perhaps I'm reading more into this than I should but the use of  "AStreetcar Named Desire" was brilliant. Love, Lust... longings..illusions, the faded past.  Boom  there it is--This episode in a nutshell. 
Which also brings us to the "new love" part of the show. Stable, Molly, usually the good girl.  Do you hide the dangerous prison escapee under your bed? Go fix a sandwich for him and grab some orange soda? Sure you do-- this is a soap and danger-boys rule. And let's face it, at that age they do in real life too. 

We finally found out who Lucky saw in the graveyard in Ireland..although why he didn't tell his sister in all this time is beyond me! LOL.. who cares! Lucky and Laura had a mini-reunion at some PUB in Ireland. Has a nice ring to it! 

FAN-GIRL NOD TO THE PAST: ah, Starr gushing over Laura!! "I knew the whole story, Luke and Laura"!!  Great scene.

PS. I also thought Johnny giving Starr his 1/2 of the biz was a great idea. Who better to run a bar than a 21 year old that hasn't had a real job a day in her life and LULU...who..well, I guess could have learned from Osmosis!  

Glove Stroke 

Yes, Tuesday was a grand show. If I had my way, it would have been followed up by an Anna/Duke convo...the MAXIE Frisco stuff they've shoved under the table and a Luke and Laura run in. Three days after this and: nothing.  Sort of chops up the momentum.  At least we see some of this again next week. Laura goes to Liz'... Scotty shows up-- Frisco talks to Maxie.  Yes, GH is like watching 2 or  3 different shows. At least there's greatness in the barrel.

Stamos Back: yea or nay?

Teaser on TV Guide regarding his comeback. He's due on the  Jeff Probst talk show to discuss a possible cameo on the show.  He nixed this:

During a sit-down with Probst, Stamos reveals he has indeed met with GH brass but was not thrilled to hear they want his popular '80s character, Blackie Parrish, to appear at the Nurse's Ball playing drums while Rick Springfield sings "Jessie's Girl."
"That's not gonna happen," Stamos tells Probst. "That's what I passed on." The actor goes on to say he's "indebted" to GH for putting him on the map and would happily return if given something meaty to do.

I think that was a huge mistake! It would be so fun to just have people pop up at the Ball like they do on Rock and Roll Hall of Fame stuff.. and I do think it's interesting he'd want "more to do". Huh..nice, so soap acting is cool, right? 
I want people to pop up left and right. Rose Kelly catering, Demi Moore running by in a trench coat-- All the Carly's in the ladies room at once. Just 2-day carnival of "spot the star"!!

BTW, I have a feeling he will indeed turn up in some capacity. Stay tuned!

You Can't Look Back...

 "You can never look back" --Don Henley Boys of Summer...

Great WRITING on Tuesday's show.  Reflection of "First Loves... Soul Mate fusion" of your younger days juxtaposed to your life later on. Frisco trying to come back to Felicia--Anna angst over Duke.  Luke and Laura. That one that 'got away' --or in their cases died a few times and rose from the grave! 

Luke: "It was a remarkable time in my life..the past poisons the present"... oh yeah, Luke I HEAR YA. I  am going to have to go back and write down his entire dialog. And Finola Hughes? How perfect was she in that scene? Wow.. Now, get Anna and Duke rolling!!

Ahhh, Starr fan girling over LAURA!! and the whole "Freezing the Town".  Julie was awesome and so natural with Genie. She really is underrated as an actress, imo.

Sunday Surgery: Multiple Fractures

GH is quickly becoming the 'must see' soap on TV. Between sexy vampires, oldies but goodies returning and some ramp up to the much loved Nurses Ball, our show's on a roll. 


So..why am I not feelin' it? Could it be there are about 900 stories going on and noting seems 'finished' (not even simple scenes??) I'm DVRing more and more and using that FF Button a lot.

Without further ado... get your scrubs on and grab a Latte.  We need multiple casts to mend  this puppy. 

Frisco's back!! THEN WHAT? ..um... HELLO knock knock. This sheeze HAS. GOT. TO STOP. You did it with Robert/Anna/Duke. Now this. WTF.  Not only didn't it continue, it was at the point of Frisco all misty eyed at Maxie--"hello Maxie"..CUT. THEN IT'S THE NEXT DAY--and NOTHING!! Like we missed that whole first impression conversation? 
HE WASN'T ON WED. THURS. OR FRIDAY. 
Um, no.
Not right. I don't know if this is supposed to be "creative" or 'time saving' or what but stop it. :stompingfoot: 

Another thing? We never saw Johnny's sentencing!! WTHEY! or did I miss it? Did I miss it?

There was great humor this week with Lucy, Heather and Todd. To be sure, I did enjoy their hi-jinks. Glad they are holding up at Wyndemere (pretty dust free, isn't it?!) because it was the perfect setting to have CALEB come out!
Speaking of..I love Caleb, I  think you know that. ME plays him like a damn rock star. BUT this feels like 2 or 3 different shows right now. With Laura back, then Scotty, it's going to be gaining momentum into crazy-town soon.  Everything is getting treated to a hatchet job.  It's like an ADHD show; nothing seems to finish. I just keep watching things pile up.  Right now we have:

I'm exhausted. Seriously.  I am SO HAPPY for the show--believe me, I am. See,  I'm smiling :) Laura will be back. I don't know how I'm feeling about that. I hope there are other people that are of the same mind set I am.  EVERY time she's come "back" I've wound up feeling like crap. You can't go home. I identified with her so much back in the day! I lived in a tiny town and lived vicariously through her. *sigh*. I just want my fun memories.  Guza totally destroyed THAT, thank you.  So this return is bittersweet for me. 

NEW BFFs? Hmm, interesting. BTW,  I've had the Pickalila spoiler up for months.  Just have to toot that horn a bit. I don't get much lately and when I do, I have to shout.  And since when has Connie become star of the show? Good Lord, she's always on and now, she's all Ms.Nice guy, helping out, fixing things.  :eyeroll: 

SCENE(S) of the WEEK:  This. THIS THIS THIS!!  Loved Caleb and Lucy's scenes. Michael Easton just knocked it out!! LH did a damn fine job as well.  

NOT THE SCENE OF THE WEEK:  TJ telling Molly that Rafe is "Troubled"..really. REALLY?  He would say that? Um, no.  They suddenly have TJ talking like he's gone to Harvard or something. Just didn't like the scene at all-- the whole "I'm jealous" is just weird.  Oh, and the second stupid scene? Having baby Danny all over those murderous docks for a "walk'--in the winter. SMH
