Sunday Surgery: Short Sheeted

Anyone remember short-sheeting beds? That's what GH felt like this week... you put your legs in for a nice comfy lie-down and...BOOM Stopped short. 
The  "New Year's Eve" episode came the day after the
"Christmas Eve/Christmas" episode. If the show wasn't interrupted,  there would have been the weekend in between so it shouldn't have seen so jarring. 
Time sped ahead with a "thunk". We didn't even see presents opened!!

Speaking of time...put on your miniskirt scrubbies and join me!!


So..we have 3 days to dish about. Three days STILL without anything on Robert,  Robin..Anna..or Duke. It was like they plunged into the black hole. Now, I'm all for suspense, and I loved the story but why the hell drop it like that? It's weird. I guess I'm supposed to take it that they've been gone at least 3 weeks by this timeline, if not more. Poor Emma, no Nana on Christmas. (let alone the PCPD).

This would have been better if it was a joint!

This whole week felt manic..blinking Christmas necklaces, penguin PJ's... visions, Ellie trying to smoke,  Sonny cooking and of course, Johnny tied up with duct tape to a chair and then stuffed into a garbage bin and trunk. 

SCENE OF THE WEEK: "You called me sister'!! Even Monica knows they'll have to team up against LUCY!!

 NOT THE SCENE OF THE WEEK:  Michael tells Starr he was raped in prison, which ends up being a prelude to their first time in the sack. Ummmmm. NO. Creepy. 

 STOP THIS: I get the whole Ha-Ha of Lucy controlling the interest and AJ and Tracy-- but damn it, TRACY DOES NOT GROVEL!! I was wishing she would have thrown the bags on the ground and ran over them with her car! 

PROP OF THE WEEK: Cawnie's song-playing blinking necklace. A bit of tacky goes a long way!! 

YEA!: Two WUBS UP for Sexis co-parenting the way it should be. I like these 2 together and it's perfectly fine to see Alexis trying to make Sonny into a "reasonable" person when it comes to Xtina. 

NAY: Good gravy... I realize "Connie" is GH's  "Tess' from OLTL but come on now. This ConJon thing is just ridiculous. Like we can believe Connie can haul his ass all over PC--in a car, garbage bin...trunk. Not to mention that he A) stopped yelling when Starr showed up and B) Stopped kicking the trunk when Trey came along. I've said it before: Johnny would have just blown this chick away. End of Crazy-Story.

STUPID NAY: Joss is with Jax...which I guess we could accept..but Morgan with "Friends" Skiing? And Sonny didn't really even bitch about it! LOL.. They'd better recast this kid soon or just drop him like Bobby Martin. 

?????: Where was the Christmas Cheer? It was a strange holiday stretch. I mean, the carolers in the hospital were whimsical but hardly any heart was to be had. Just strange. 

Will Patrick mention his anniversary next week? Hmm.. Scrubs was married on the 29th. Too bad he's stuck in the Britt and "Ugly Duckling" triangle.


My new obsession? Doc Martin!! I'm watching the series on Netflix and just love it. If you liked Northern Exposure or Gilmore Girls ..towns with quirk, you should check it out.

Lulu had on SUCH an LA Mini dress. LOL.  and MAXIE got an apartment make-over? Was that blue foil? Did they put that up to make us mad? We hated the other wall paper so they PUT THAT UP instead? OY. 
LESLIE sent cookies to Maxie? Where is she living? Ummm. 
Loved the giggling Lante and Maxie did over that book. 

So, Sonny couldn't come to talk to his daughter--because he's at the GYM FOR A PHOTO shoot. WTF... whatever. How stupid. 
Alexis even wants Krissy to leave. AND BTW, No, She's not leaving..something happens and she doesn't make it. (CRASH)

Christmas Eve was said 11 times in the first 30 min!! LOL and now it's New Year's Eve-- and Michael and Starr were in bed the entire time LMAO 

Johnny is tied up in the Haunted Star... for a WEEK?? He bit Cawnie. That was pretty fun. Why can't Johnny yell all of a sudden when Starr is there?  


BTW, Not having Anna, Robert or Duke on this whole time  is just lazy, imo. That's a huge break and for what? Filler days like today? Um, no.

While the news, still unconfirmed by CBS, is certainly fantastic it's not exactly out of left field: Burton and Phelps are longtime friends and business associates (they're currently working together on a telenovela project) so it wasn't hard to imagine Burton someday popping up in Genoa City. C'mon, we all expected it! But so soon?

Tragedy Hits Close to Home

Webster, N.Y. -- Two firefighters have died after being shot at the scene of a fire on Lake Road in Webster early Monday.

Webster's Police chief confirms that another two firefighters were also shot and are being treated for their injuries.

Chief Gerald Pickering says one of the firefighters was able to escape in his private vehicle, while the others remained pinned down for around an hour.

The fire started around 5:30 a.m. at 191 Lake Rd. near Bay Rd. Webster Fire tells 13WHAM News that a gunman opened fire on the fire crews.

Of those first responders, Webster’s Police chief says firefighters Mike Chiapperini and Tomas Kaczowka were shot and died at the scene. Chiapperini was also a member of the Webster Police Department. Kaczowka was a member of the fire department and a 911 dispatcher.

The other two firefighters that were shot are Theodore Scardino and Joseph Hofsetter. They were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital and are listed in guarded condition. Doctors at Strong Hospital say Scardino was shot twice, once in the shoulder and once in the knee. Hofsetter was shot in the pelvis.

A fifth individual, off-duty Greece police officer John Ritter, was injured by shrapnel.

Pickering says that the suspected shooter has been found dead near the property where the fire began, and that there is no longer a threat to the area. No details about the suspect have been released.

He also said that the suspect may have created the fire as a trap for the first responders.

We're told four homes were destroyed as a result of the fire. 33 neighbors in the immediate area were evacuated from their homes.

My friend, Evan Dawson with Channel 13 has been between scenes all day...this on his son's second  Christmas Eve. There are no words-- this has to STOP.  Peace to all families and Webster township. Bless the firefighters that volunteer to go save people's houses and property.

Sunday Surgery: Petri Dishes and Propofol

It was a week of...well..hmmm. Monday was pretty snappy because  it was really Friday's show from the week before. I of course, LOVED the Lucy Coe part.  I'm really not into Sabrina the Nursey Betty. But, one must take the good with the bad!! Newbie Felix is shaping up. Britt is becoming a nice soapy beeatch to hate. Paddy saw Robin speak on a DVD and AJ told the truth.

It finally snowed here, so get your boots on, snuggle up!! Ho HO HO... HERE WE GO! 

Lucy Coe. Of Coe-Coe Cosmetics. Ah, so much history there...and funny "Pyramid" mentions. (If you don't know the set of GH had a pyramid type scheme going on for years...under  the "health guise"). Her office was a hoot, although they did use Kate's old place as part of the set.  Meridith Viera was a great fun actress and mentioned RENEE from OLTL. 

Maxie and the implantation... um. Unrealistic? You bet.  However it did provide great scenes between KS and BA. 

 The Tawd and Cawnie show was hilarious...From  the faking of the heart attack  to Connie talking over a knocked out Johnny. There's a lot coming with this including a car accident  involving two of my not so fave characters. I think the whole trio  wind up arrested, but you know--this is Port  Charles.

THE BEST part of the week was PROPOFOL... and Poor Robert. The Real Duke and Robin with Jerry. I wish there was more of that-- I could watch a show just on that story, thank you. I was surprised with Jerry Jacks--just because I had counted him out (in my head) as not being relevant anymore.  So, for me...good one. Do I WISH it was David Hayward? Um, yeah... but a girl can't always get what she wants!!

SCENE OF THE WEEK: Going with Brandon Barash's excellent performance when he was sweating it out,  trying to tell Starr. Yes, it was frustrating but he just plays that panicked mood so perfectly. Every pore screens "help"!! 

 RUNNER UP: Lucy tries to talk  Alice into some "Slayer" creme! 

UGLY OUTFIT OF THE WEEK: Diane, honey..you know better.

TROOPER OF THE WEEK: Lisa LoCicero. I haven't mentioned much about her "visions" but even with her ridiculous dialog, she's having a blast. 

NOT THE SCENE OF THE WEEK: I couldn't find a photo but stupid ELLIE WALKING around with those zygotes with her bare hands -- you know I hate that kind of misstep! LOL This is a hospital show, damn it! Although if you watched OLTL, you know it can get worse (Bag O' Blood).

All in all a good week, can't complain too much. I was bored a bit Friday but that was actually not a Friday show. In time, we'll catch back up to how the order goes.

GH next week: Rerun Monday (Thanksgiving eppy) and none on Tuesday.

Prospect Park Rears It's Head Again

I'm not going to even pretend I know what the hell is happening with this..or what it means..or ANYTHING. A lot of posts are popping up and I'm sure we'll hear more soon. This is the link to ATV Today with some of the scoops. 
It's also unclear what this means for the OLTL characters on GH-- not sure if they were "rented" from PP or "bought".
Crazy Biz that Hollywood!

The abandonment of the planned continuations was the end of the story for many with fans mourning the passing of One Life to Live and All My Children. In true soap opera style though it appears there’s a twist in the story and that the end may not have come for either serial after all. Deadline reports that a new deal has reportedly been agreed by Prospect Park and several Unions.

Although there is no official word from Prospect Park regarding the rumoured deals talks are said to be underway between the company and actors from both soaps. A number of OLTL actors did sign up to continue their roles – far more actors than for AMC – before the deal fell through. Of course several OLTL actors have since cropped up on ABC’s last remaining soap General Hospital playing the same characters.

2012 WUB AWARDS --General Hospital

 Here we are again!! Another year gone by-and what a year it's been WHEW!! The entire show flipped upside down and management just changed like new boxer shorts. This year has been trans formative in so many, many ways. We've gotten Q's back, OLTL characters, people who were "Dead" and gone all popping up again. The Nurses' Ball is coming!! I honestly never thought I'd see Lynn Herring back on this show.  Makes me a little teary-eyed. Wolf wrote until the end of Feb. It took awhile to tie it all up but this fall GH has just rocketed UP up AND UP! 

So, see if you agree!! here we go:

BEST ACTRESS: Finola Hughes. Hands down. She's just phenomenal in every.damn.scene. Whether it's Robin's death or being creeped out and scared silly seeing Faison, she just brought the house down.

BEST ACTOR:  Jason Thompson. He was fantastic as the grieving Patrick. His sorrow, depression and short lived addiction to pills was written and done so well. 

RUNNER UP: Ian Buchanan. It was hard not to give him the win, especially because he did "Faison" SO WELL. Watching him play Non-Duke was glorious.  Loved every minute.

BEST ADDITION: Todd  Manning. He's brought life to Port Charles and I love it. His one liners make any show 100x better, imo. "Don't call me Shirley"! 

BEST USE OF A DRUG: LSD turning Olivia into a "truth seer" hey... at least she can give away some plot points now and again! 

WORST CHARACTER: Steven LARS. Good gravy. HE's dumb as a post, especially for a doctor.  Yes, there are worse "minor type" characters, but he takes the cake. 

LONGEST STORYLINE: The BAY-BAY...who's the DADDY. Lord, it took longer for us to land on the Moon. And of course, Jason takes his swan song before he finds out. There was enough DNA switching in there to make a technician in Llanview proud. (Not to mention switching, Heather, the cabin, yada yada). 

WORST STORYLINE: Cassandra.  (yes, that was this year... @@) 
 RUNNER UP: Stripper Killer

BEST SCENE: The single best scene of the year was of course,  Edward and Lila's retiring up the stairs  at the end of his memorial.  Done so perfectly, it's an instant classic. 

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Johnny shoots his grandfather,  Anna sees Faison, Patrick and Epiphany have a hallway talk... Tracy at Edward's bedside.  there were MANY, thanks  to Ron's penmanship and all the great actors.

MOST OVERUSED WORD:  Pathogen
RUNNER UP: BLT

BEST  NEW PROP:  Duke's Rubber Face

BEST OLD PROP: Pizza Boxes on Q's doorstep


BIGGEST FLOP : Trey reveal. We found out he was Connie's kid, and just when I was liking Joe Scully, he's killed. Then Trey just leaves without any real Connie "connection" happening. Very strange all around. 


BEST DEATH: Ewan... awesome acting by Nathin Butler. Realistic and soapy. 

BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO GH IN FOREVER:  Cartini...thank goodness they came to write for my show.  You brought back the history and families that are so important to us! And, for me, the bonus of some much loved OLTL characters.

From The Heart

Emile Jean Trimble and Dana Carvey

Today I said goodbye to my beautiful cousin Emile. At her core, she was a light and an incredible joy to be around. She was an actress, songstress and  theater actress. She will be so missed.  Emile put on shows at Busch Gardens and loved little children. As the priest said today, perhaps she was there to greet the little souls that were entering at this moment.

I was driving to Williamsburg all day Friday and only learned of the Newton tragedy on my phone through twitter. By the time we got to our hotel, the news was horrific and made an already difficult day/weekend all the more sad and terrible.

I wrestled with the idea of not publishing my WUB awards tomorrow but have decided to do so because we all need a bit of a distraction and as Emile would say "the show must go on'. So I will put the blog up in the morning.

As someone that worked in public schools for 10 years and continues to work with 4 and 5 year olds on a daily basis, this sort of crisis is just unimaginable. Yet, it happened. Makes me wonder about so many things.
