Real Life General Hospital? Um. NO

ABC is supposedly shooting a "Real Life GH" for daytime next year according to the New York Post. 

ABC is developing a real-life version of “General Hospital” — with actual doctors and nurses filmed at an LA hospital — as a daytime show for next year.
The show quietly began taping recently at the famed UCLA Medical Center, a spokesman for ABC confirmed.
The show is in its “earliest, pilot stages,” said the official and is intended “either for syndication or maybe cable.”
The show, according to sources, will follow the private as well as working lives of white coats at the hospital. 

This better not be any BS to try to replace our show. ABC should know better after it's other disasters. LEAVE THE SOAPS ALONE!!

Well, let's get this glowing blog over with!! You know I loved GH this week! Find a nice bright scrub outfit and sip the coffee...here we go-go.

I don't even know how to start this other than to say I'm glad I DVR'd the three days this week so I can watch it over and over again. *sigh* Perfection.

The show had family and history at the heart which is what EVERY soap should be. The actors had dialog that could make them shine and let's face it, we all teared up a bit.   

I've said just about everything there is to say in all my posts this week--and my "Thankful" post on Thursday. It's so refreshing to not have to bitch or make suggestions to make it better. 

SCENE OF THE WEEK: Lila and Edward going up the Q Stairway to Heaven. :sobbing: The last scene of Edward and Lila walking up the stairs could have been cheesy or just plain wrong, but Ron pulled it off with stunning accuracy and grace. It was perfection. Kudos to the doubles and wardrobe for putting it all together.

 MOST TOUCHING: "Edward" reaching for Danny's fingers before dying.

BEST ACTED: Jane Elliot at her Daddy's bedside.

RUNNER UP: Anna realizes something is off with NonDuke and tells him to back off with tears in her eyes.  AND Robert and Patrick. There was great stuff to be had ALL around!

Adrienne Barbeau is on "Revenge" tonight and Balkin Henchman Massi Furlan is at the beginning of "Liz and Dick" on Lifetime. Glad he's at the start so we don't have to suffer the whole show!! I may have to live tweet that train wreck a bit  heh. 

Here's to GH: finally coming back to the history and fun and glory we knew it could be!!

You know I'll give a sparkling Sunday Surgery but for today, I want to say a big thanks to the new regime at General Hospital for giving us back our show. Yes, there's been bumps and yes, there have been characters moved over from OLTL but all in all? It's becoming the great story we once knew. 

Thank you for giving our vets a chance to shine.
Thank you for have the Q household hum with drama again. 
Thank you for giving cameos to characters that matter. Even if it's for a short time, just like in real life, people come and go and "visit". 
Thank you for making the hospital a vital part of the canvas.
Thank you for attention to detail. 
Thank you for bringing back the strong FEMALES in Port Charles. 
Thank you for working hard at balancing humor and tears, it payed off handsomely this week.

OUR SOAP is back and the ratings are catching up. The shows on Tuesday and Wednesday were primetime worthy and I challenge any critic to hold it up to other dramas.

 A memorial service for high school drama teacher and General Hospital actor John Ingle will take place from 1-3 p.m. Saturday in the Kenneth L. Peters Auditorium at Beverly Hills High School.
 His students included Richard Dreyfuss, Joely Fisher, Swoosie Kurtz, David Schwimmer, Lenny Kravitz, Julie Kavner, David Schwimmer, Nicholas Cage, Laraine Newman and Jonathan Prince.

Sunday Surgery: Sympathy For The Faison

Sit right back and you'll hear a tale....

Ok, LOL...Well, welcome to Sunday Surgery! NO NEED for scrubs today because I'm delving into one of my fave villains of all time, Caesar FAISON! Yes, I will also dish the rest of the show as well, but this week was all about the latex and Cigarillos! 

So,   I'm going to get a few things out of the way first about this..
1. Anna would totally know she's kissing a mask
2. Anna would SMELL the cigarillos that Fiason is smoking, that sheeze doesn't come out of clothes easily
3. Never mind the teeth, eyes and fact that the mask ends at his chest. 
4. He'd take 4 hours to get that thing on let alone the time to pin up his hair

Ok, now that we agree to just push those things aside...let us begin.

Ah, Faison. Yes, he's evil..yes, he's a baddie... yada yada but he's  NO MITCH LAWRENCE. Meaning he's not a total psychotic nut job (just yet).
Faison has always had an underlying sadness to him. Sort of a "beast" thing going. He lusts after women, he hypnotizes them...chains them up but somehow I think deep down he's just a lonely man who was tortured by his German nanny as a kid. 
Not that it excuses his behavior. 
BUT..I want you to look closely at the scene where Robin is trying to convince him that Anna could love him as he IS. Anders Hove plays this brilliantly--watch his eyes. There's a wistful gazing there and a second where he almost believes it. I saw his hopes play out on his face: I could "save" Robin on my own and she'd love me. Really LOVE ME. 
Of course, he goes back to his wicked ways but there it was.  And Anders has always done this with Faison. Made him a  little bit sad--a little bit 'off' with a venerability. 

I can hear you now. HE SHOT JASON in the back!! Yep.. that's true.  He's done a ton of baddie things.  I'm talking about the little pit inside him that has a hope to be loved.

Now,  On to the REST! 

Tracy snowing AJ and Monica.. AHAHHA. Oh Tracy, you are so crafty and I love you. AJ just cut that off. Hee hee..think she'll get the house now??  Having the Q house filling up again is heaven. Too bad we are going to have John's (Edward) memorial next week. That had to be hard to film for everyone involved. 

Sam and Michael  kind of got lost in the shuffle but they were nice scenes. Michael holding Danny--generations coming full circle. Sam finally told him that Danny is Jason's baby. 

Nurse Betty and her GIANT GLASSES. @@ I suppose her getting bombed at the night club was supposed to be funny but I found it weird.  (not to mention the giant ass'd straw she had). Ditto the whole "But I have a crush on someone" when talking to Patrick. I guess I just see what's coming (and it involves contacts and a new make over) and I just get bored.  She HAS to be connected to someone on canvas, I'm convinced.  

SCENE OF THE WEEK: When I saw a piece of the mask still hanging on Faison's neck and he flicked it at Robin. CLASSIC awesome moment improved no doubt by Hove himself. It was an evil little gross thing to do.  WUBBED it. (Look close on the left it's wobbling right there) 

FAVE FUN MOMENT: Kid vomits on Britt.  Oh be still my soapy heart. Loved it!! 



BEST USE OF A PROP: "Duke's Face Sits on Robin's nightstand"

NOT THE SCENE OF THE WEEK: Brit and her RED BRA enticing Patrick in front of Mousy Betty.  She's probably a hench-woman for Faison but still. :eyeroll:  I'm so glad he said NO to her zexual advances. heh
Lante continued to have good dialog-- can't complain there. I liked both Olivia and Sonny offering them money for their baby-dreams. I'm kind of on the fence about Olivia's "powers"-she seems to be the OLTL Delphina of GH.  Using Liz' history of art was a nice touch. 

The AJ Scenes were good-- having some of them on the Q stairs was a brilliant touch because so MUCH HISTORY has happened  on those stairs!! 

Spinelli is growing up-- you can see it all over. I'm happy he slept with Ellie, about time he got something outside of Maxie. She's the one that usually has "relations" while he pines away. I do wish they'd solve it soon--or have Ellie go all nuts and start dressing/acting like Maxie. 

The show is great again, and with the ELQ stuff that's coming I'm giddy. I also wonder if Shawn and TJ are back in storage?? Hmmmmmm. Not a lot of ConKate this week  which is fine by me.  ROBERT IS BACK in full SPY mode....eeeeeeeeee!!! Ned and Skye are coming  next week.  AND THE NURSES' BALL is being discussed!! 
*sigh* be still my heart.

Sooooooooo there you have it. I've watched soaps for 30 years. Rumors of "villain" returns... weird acting from "Duke"-- Although a Mask? I was being fun. TO actually HAVE IT HAPPEN made me screetch in delight!!

This week was a study in the past. If you hadn't watched GH back in the hey-day of AJ and Robin being little, well...it must have been tough. Get on the wiki, people.

First up: AJ-- well, he did tell the truth... and so did Carly. Doesn't take away the punch of the past though. If you didn't see all the scenes from the get-go you may be a little confused.  AJ at the point where he fathered Michael was trying to get his life back together after getting in his car accident with Jason. It was later that Jason/Carly didn't want Michael with the "evil Q's". I'm enjoying the conflict going on inside Michael at the moment. Good stuff. 

So many good things: Monica, Tracy!! Alice choking her pffft. Carly stomping on in demanding answers. NICE.

Lante's adoption fake out and the get caught. Whoops. Now they'll have to get a surrogate! WOW, how does that happen?

 Ok, the fingerprints.  If you noticed when Anna was searching the data base for "Duke's" prints..."Duke" started to reach for his gun. When they MATCHED he relaxed. SO,  he obviously hacked/switched the data base info. Although how someone can't tell someone else's hands is beyond me. Anyway, watch this clip of Faison sneaking around Anna/Robert's post-sex room he is some creepy baddie. 

 Luke then used Faison as a diamond fence in later years, and we find that he's really working with Helena.  He hates the Spencers, was deeply in love with Anna...and then Felicia. . He's creepy and nasty and up until Disney banned smoking from it's shows, he smoked dark thin cigars ALL. the TIME.  His first name is Caesar. His accent is KILLER fun. OK, Scene of the week! Carly and Michael on the docks. Loved it. Loved Michael's confusion and realization that his dad AND his mom were pretty much liars, F'd up the whole nine yards. Carly admitting what she did to AJ and trying to explain herself. Wow

 "Duke" will save her, or set her free (Nurses' Ball time) and no one will suspect a thing. Except Luke and Robert, I'm sure!! 

Under The Mask

Just a quick post to clear up some things:

Non-Duke switched the fingerprints in the FBI Data base so they'd match "Duke's"-- watch the scene. He goes for his gun while they are searching, relaxes when they match. Hacking worked.

Why didn't Non-Duke learn ROBIN's memories?
Number one: didn't think she'd try to escape, ergo he had to go to the clinic soonerr
Two: By the time he would "rescue" her she'd be so grateful she was out, she wouldn't question him
Three: He's bent on convincing Anna..not her daughter. Who he kidnapped.

I now think he will "erase her memory" with Helena's help (like she did with Lucky) or alter her memories all together. Think Men in Black Pen. Or "Inception Machine". 

I will have a full history of UNDER THE MASK next week-- just in case it's NOT Faison. Hey, could be Helena with a sex change who knows with Ron! LOL I guessed Faison from the beginning because I swear Non-Duke had his mannerisms. Cock of the head..stilted speech.. even the walk at times. Ian B must have studied tapes!
